这篇笔记对应“哪些教育对孩子有害”这篇推送，一个很有意思的英文问答帖子。
stigma /ˈstɪɡmə/ 名词，表示a strong feeling of disapproval that most people in a society have about something，社会普遍对某种情况的反感，觉得是不好的，可耻的，某种情况给人的耻感，让人觉得是见不得人的，比如the stigma of metal illness, the stigma attached to/associated with single parenthood.
对应的动词是 stigmatise (美式拼写是stigmatize)，将某人/某群体视为可耻的，歧视、污名化他们，经常用被动态。
There is no longer any stigma to being divorced.
In our society, being single is still heavily stigmatized.
They are often stigmatized by the rest of society as lazy and dirty.
own up to sth. 表示to admit that you have done something wrong，承认自己做了某件错事（一般是不太严重的事）。这里的to是介词，后边如果要加动词的话应该用动名词形式，own up to doing sth.
No one has owned up to stealing the money.
