·1. whole number·
表示非负整数，也就是0和正整数，0,1,2,3,4...，经常出现在计数或者数学的语境里。
例：Many stores set the prices at .99 instead of whole numbers.
很多商店把价格定为几点99而不是用整数。
我们熟悉的数学概念：
natural number: 1,2,3,4...自然数，不含0。
integer /'ɪntədʒə(r)/ : -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3...“整数”，包含正整数，0，负整数。
fraction /'frækʃən/ : ¾, ½...分数。
decimal /'desəməl/ : 0.1, 0.7, 12.34...小数。
日常我们说的“整数”也属于natural number和integer，不过比较少这么说，它俩听起来比较专业，主要用在数学相关的语境。
例：This problem is asking for the total number of students in the school, so the answer has to be a whole number. If you get a decimal or fraction, it's wrong.
这道题求的是学校的学生总数，所以答案肯定是整数。如果你算出来是小数或分数，那就错了。
·2. round number·
round /raʊnd/ 在这里是形容词，只用在名词前，a round number or figure is a whole number, often ending in 0，整数，尤其是整十整百等0结尾的数字，经常出现在价格、估算等相关的语境，很日常的说法，比较少用在数学等专业语境。
例：How much do I owe you? £29? Let's make it 30. That's a nice round number.
我欠你多少钱？29磅？算30磅，凑个整数。
例：How much is it? £32? Come on, make it a round figure, £30?
多少钱啊？32磅？这样吧，算个整数吧，30磅怎么样？
例：In round figures, there are about 3000 students here.
估算个整数，这里约有3000名学生。
round还可以作动词，round sth或者round sth off，表示取整，一般是取最接近的整数，四舍五入。
准确描述取整方向：
round down: 向下取整，取最接近但小于它的整数
round up: 向上取整，取最接近但大于它的整数
例：I rounded the numbers down in my calculations, so the final result is a bit lower than the exact total.
我计算的时候把数字都向下取整了，所以出来的结果会比实际总数小一点。
例：Most stores price things at .99 instead of rounding up to whole numbers. It's a psychological trick to make things seem cheaper.
大多数商店都以.99来标价，而不是取整数。这是一种心理策略，让东西看起来更便宜。
:D 分享一个小点，前天一个德国朋友去剪头发，他说洗头加上剪头发一共30.4欧（大概是人民币230块），我问他为什么不是整数，他也不知道，理发师说30.4。
不过他最后付了32欧，加了一点点小费。给小费在德国一般不强制，如果觉得服务不错可以给一点，不用很多，很多时候是凑个整数，不像美国那样要15%-20%。
付钱时怎么告诉服务员要给多少小费，可以在他和你说消费了多少钱之后，把小费加上去，报一个新的数字，这样他会按你报的数字收钱找零，比如说：
Waiter: That's 30.40 euros.
You: Just make it 32, please.
Waiter: Thank you.
如果找零的钱差不多是你要给的小费，比如说消费92块，付100块，付钱的时候说keep the change (零钱留着，不用找了)。也可以等拿到零钱之后把小费留在桌上或者给对方，不需要说什么就知道是小费。
