·1. 单数：odd number·
odd /ɒd/ /ɑːd/ 形容词，最常用的含义是strange and unusual，奇怪的，不寻常的，它也能形容数字 not able to be divided exactly by two，不能被2整除的，odd number就是“奇数”，日常说的“单数”。
例：3, 5, and 7 are odd numbers.
3、5和7都是奇数。
例：All the houses on this side of the street have odd numbers.
街道这边所有房子门牌号都是单数。
例：Each team has an odd number of players.
每支球队的球员人数都是奇数。
odd在数字的语境里还可以表示a little more than the number mentioned，比这个数字稍多一点点，类似中文三十几、四十几的那个“几”，用法是直接加在具体的数字后边 (通常是整十的数字，比如40, 70) ，用于口语。
例：How old is she? Thirty-odd?
她几岁？三十几吗？
例：I have 20-odd years to work before I retire.
我还要工作二十几年才退休。
·2. 双数：even number·
even /'iːvən/ 在这是形容词，最常用的含义是flat and level, with no parts that are higher than other parts，平坦的，不会一边高一边低的，形容数字时表示can be divided exactly by two，能被2整除的，把它分成两份的话可以两边一样多的。
例：2, 4, 6 and 8 are even numbers.
2、4、6和8是偶数。
例：Brides usually have an even number of bridesmaids.
新娘的伴娘人数通常是双数。bride /braɪd/ 新娘；bridesmaid /'braɪdzmeɪd/ 伴娘；bridegroom /'braɪdɡruːm/新郎，可以简称groom；groomsman /'ɡruːmzmən/ 伴郎。
例：The money you put in red envelopes should be even numbers, but avoid 4 because it sounds like 'death' in Chinese and is considered unlucky.
装红包里的钱应该都是双数，但是不要4，因为4在中文里听起来像 “死”，不吉利。
even还经常搭配比赛的比分，表示“比分一样的，持平的”。
例：At the end of the first half, the scores were even.
上半场结束时，双方比分持平。
·3. 语法：singular, plural·
singular /'sɪŋɡjələ(r)/ plural /'plʊərəl/ 这两个词可以做形容词和名词，特指名词和动词的单数和复数形式，讨论语法的时候用。
例：The plural form of 'phenomenon' is 'phenomena'.
phenomenon (现象) 的复数形式是phenomena。
例：Is the subject singular or plural?
主语是单数还是复数？
