·1. 流浪猫：stray cats·
/streɪ/ 常用作动词，表示to move away from the place where you should be, without intending to，无意中离开了自己该待着的地方，偏离原本的路线，误入了另一个地方，走失，迷路。
例：They got lost when they strayed too far from the path during their hike in the woods.
他们在林中徒步旅行时，因偏离路径太远而迷路了。
它也可以用作形容词 (只用在名词前) 或者名词，a stray animal or a stray is lost or has no home，指原本有主人但是走失了或者被遗弃了的宠物，最常见的流浪动物：stray cats，stray dogs。
例：He adopted a stray cat from an animal shelter and named her Luna.
他从动物收容所领养了一只流浪猫，并给它取名叫露娜。
例：We found a stray kitten meowing outside our house last night. It was so hungry and scared.
昨晚，我们在家门口发现了一只喵喵叫的流浪小猫，它又饿又害怕。kitten /'kɪtn/ 表示a yound cat，小猫。meow /mi'aʊ/ 猫叫。
例：A lot of the stray cats on campus were once pets that were abandoned by students who graduated and moved away.
校园里很多流浪猫以前都是宠物，是被毕业搬走的学生遗弃的。
·2. 野猫：feral cats·
/'ferəl/ 形容词，表示feral animals used to live with humans but have become wild，形容动物恢复野性的。
feral cats，野猫，通常是长期没有主人的猫或者是流浪猫的后代，从一出生就是野猫，不和人接触所以不亲人，生人靠近会跑，但是能自己找吃的，很适应室外野外的生活，不一定适合收养在室内。
feral cats是野化的家猫，品种还是和家猫一样，这样的“野猫”不叫wildcats，wildcats一般指的是山猫、加拿大猞猁之类的中等体型、未驯化的野生猫科动物。
例：I tried to feed a feral cat in the park yesterday, but it ran off the moment I got close.
昨天我想喂公园里的一只野猫，但一靠近它它就跑了。
例：In the countryside, feral cats hunt birds, mice and other small animals for food.
在农村，野猫会捕食小鸟、老鼠和其他小动物。
