Xiaohong:Hey, Xiaohua. Have you been to Japan?
Xiaohua:Not yet. And you?
Xiaohong:Yes. I went to visit Japan by sea with my friends in 2018. It's a cool trip actually. The whole country looks like a mini-sized kingdom.
Xiaohua:Japan is particularly vulnerable to natural disasters because of its climate and topography, and it has experienced countless earthquakes, typhoons, and other types of disasters.
Xiaohong:Well, you see, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said the volcano erupted. Footage from the agency’s surveillance camera showed a cloud of smoke or ash rising from the volcano.
Xiaohua:It's terrible. The Japan's Sakurajima volcano eruption prompted evacuations in the region.
Xiaohong:Why?
Xiaohua:Come on. I'm serious. JMA announced a Level 5 alert, calling for people to evacuate. This is the highest level.
Xiaohong:So it must be dangerous to live nearby.
Xiaohua:Yes. So JMA advised caution to residents in the city.
Xiaohong:Has anyone died from this volcano eruption?
Xiaohua:There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
Xiaohong:That's fine.

It's an active volcano. It's erupting now, orange flames flashing near the crater and dark smoke with ash billowing high above the mountaintop. And large rocks fell from the Sakurajima volcano.
This is what we can see from the footage of television. Fortunately, no damage or injuries have been reported. Schools in the area are closed. Dozens of people have evacuated from the towns and 33 of them left their homes for a nursing care facility in a safer part of the region.
Local authorities said, “We will put the people's lives first and do our utmost to assess the situation and respond to any emergency. ” The chances of more explosive violent eruptions were low, but residents still should be watchful for falling rocks and mudslide.
Well, people are vulnerable in natural disasters. In a disaster, you face the danger of death or physical injury. You may also lose your home, possessions, and community. Such stressors place you at risk for emotional and physical health problems. I hope that everything goes well.
