·01· the colour runs
run是表示掉色最常用的动词。if colour runs, it spreads from one piece of clothing or one area of cloth to another when the clothes are wet，用来描述衣服洗了之后颜色跑出来，掉色，把和它一起洗或者晾一块的衣服都染上颜色了。
When I washed that red dress, the colour ran and made all my whites pink.
我洗那件红裙子时它掉色了，把我所有白色衣服都染成了粉红的。whites复数名词，指white clothes，白色的衣物。
You should wash this blue T-shirt separately the first few times in case the colour runs.
这件蓝色T恤前几次应该和别的衣物分开洗，以防掉色。
I've washed these pants three times and the colour is still running.
这条裤子我已经洗过三次了，还是会掉色。
·02· lose colour?
lose colour这个短语也可以用，不过它没有run那种掉色并染到别的衣服的含义，主要指布料洗了很多次、穿久了或者长时间阳光直晒之后颜色逐渐变浅、变得不鲜艳，也可以说fade /feɪd/, 动词，“褪色”。
The curtains have lost colour over the years because of exposure to sunlight.
这些窗帘这些年因为日晒而褪色了。
This old T-shirt used to be light yellow, but over time it has faded and now looks cream.
这件旧T恤原本是浅黄色的，但这些年它颜色逐渐变淡，现在看起来像奶油色。
·03· 染到别的衣服
语境：When I washed this black shirt, the colour ran.
It stained all the lighter clothes.
stain /steɪn/ 动词，表示to accidentally make a mark on sth，留下斑点、污点、色块。lighter clothes指颜色浅一点的衣服。
It discoloured all the lighter clothes.
discolour动词，表示to make something change colour, so that it looks unattractive，使变色，改变东西的颜色，让它不好看。
It made my white T-shirt blue.
It turned my white T-shirt blue.
具体描述染成什么色。
It ruined my favourite white T-shirt.
ruin /ˈruːɪn/ 动词，表示“毁掉”，比较笼统不过比其他单词情绪强烈，听起来很心疼。
