·1. 车闯红灯：run a red light·
固定短语，表示to drive quickly through a red traffic light instead of stopping，闯红灯，run可以换成其他动词：go through/drive through a red light。
例：She got a ticket for running a red light.
她因为闯红灯被开了罚单。
例：She was fined for driving through a red light.
她因为闯红灯被罚款了。
例：Running a red light just to save a few seconds is never worth it.
为了省几秒钟而闯红灯是不值得的。
例：The truck ran the red light without even slowing down and hit a pedestrian.
那辆卡车甚至没有减速就闯红灯，撞到了行人。pedestrian /pə'destriən/ “行人”。
·2. 车闯红灯：jump the light(s)·
固定短语，朗文词典的解释是to drive through red traffic lights without stopping，没有停车，直接闯红灯，牛津词典也说它等于run a red light。
不过韦氏词典的解释是to start moving before the traffic light turns green，剑桥词典的解释是start moving past a traffic light while the light is still red，“start moving”说明红灯的时候有停一下，但是还没绿灯就又开始开了 (可能因为路上没什么人和车)。
我之前一直觉得它就是直接闯红灯，写这篇笔记去查才发现可能有另一种情况，去看外网论坛的讨论，有的人理解jump the lights是有短暂地停了一下，有人觉得没停，理解上有点细微的差别，但反正不管停没停，都是闯红灯了。
lights和light都可以，因为一组交通灯包含两/三个色的信号灯，这样理解的话就用复数，如果把几个颜色的灯看成一个整体，是一组交通灯，那就用单数，总的来说英式英语里复数用得多，美式英语里单数用得多 (参考谷歌的书籍词频统计)。
例：She jumped the light because there was no traffic and she didn't want to wait.
她闯红灯了，因为当时没有车，她不想等。
例：He was caught on camera jumping the lights.
他闯红灯，被摄像头拍了下来。
例：She hit a cyclist this morning because he jumped the lights.
今天早上，她撞了一个骑自行车的人，因为他闯了红灯。
·3. 人闯红灯·
上边两个表达主要是指车等交通工具的，如果是行人闯红灯过马路，可以说：
cross (the road) against a/the (red) light
cross (the road) when the light is red
ignore the red light
例：It's dangerous to cross the road against the red light, especially in busy areas.
闯红灯过马路很危险，尤其是在车流量大的路段。
例：I saw a guy with a kid crossing the street when the light was red. He was on his phone and didn't even look both ways.
我看到一个人带着孩子闯红灯过马路。他当时在玩手机，甚至根本没往两边看。
例：They were late for work and so they ignored the red light.
他们上班要迟到了，所以就闯红灯。
