·1. at first glance·
glance /ɡlɑːns/ /ɡlæns/ 可以作名词或动词，表示(to take a) quick look，快速看一眼，一瞥。
at first glance固定短语，表示when you first look at or think about something, often rather quickly，初看某人/某物，大致看了一下并产生看法或判断，用来描述自己对某人某物一开始的感觉，这种感觉一般是不准的，后边经常会有but…的转折。
例：At first glance, the exam paper seemed pretty tough, but once I started, I found it quite easy.
这试卷乍一看很难，但我开始做了之后觉得挺简单的。
例：At first glance, this cafe might seem pretty ordinary, but trust me, they have the best desserts in town.
第一眼看上去，这家咖啡店很普通，但相信我，这里有本地最好吃的甜品。

at first glance经常用于看得见、或者至少需要用眼睛获取部分信息的东西，如果是“乍一听”或者其他描述第一反应和初步看法的语境，可以考虑用下边的句型，更灵活一点：

例：At first, her idea sounded like a good one, but then I realized we didn't have enough time to pull it off.
她的想法乍一听不错，但后来我意识到没有足够的时间来实现它。pull sth off用于口语和非正式语境，表示to succeed in doing something difficult，成功完成一件有难度的事。
例：When I first heard the song, I honestly thought the singer was a woman, but it's actually a man!
我第一次听这首歌的时候以为歌手是女的，结果是男的！
