stretch /stretʃ/ 动词，最常用的含义是to make something longer, wider or looser, for example by pulling it; to become longer, etc. in this way，拉扯、拉伸某物，使它变大、变宽等，比如说拉扯一条皮筋，或者毛衣丢洗衣机里洗之后被扯大。

sb stretches sth (某人拉扯宽了某物)
sth stretches (某物延伸、变宽变大)
例：Don't stretch that rubber band too much; it'll snap!
别把橡皮筋拉得太开，会断掉的！rubber /'rʌbə(r)/ “橡胶”，band /ˈbænd/ “一段带子，绑礼物的彩带”，rubber band指用来束东西的橡皮筋。snap /snæp/ci 动词，to break with a sudden sharp noise。
A: Can I borrow your boots?
能借你的靴子穿穿吗？
B: No, you'll stretch them.
不行，你会把它们撑大的。
例：I think this sweater must have stretched when I washed it.
我想这件毛衣一定是洗的时候拉大了。
▶ 它也可以搭配人或者身体部位，表示to make your body or your arms and legs straight so that they are as long as possible, in order to exercise the joints after you have been in the same place or position for a long time，保持一个姿势太久之后伸展手脚，伸懒腰。
▶ 锻炼前后热身的拉伸也是stretch。

例：He sat up in bed, yawned, and stretched.
他从床上坐起来，打哈欠，伸懒腰。yawn /jɔːn/，动词，“打哈欠”。
例：He stretched his neck from side to side to ease the stiffness.
他左右伸展脖子，缓解僵硬。stiff /stɪf/ 形容词，difficult to bend or move，“僵直的，僵硬的”，stiffness是名词形式。
例：The cat stretched lazily on the windowsill, basking in the sun.
猫在窗台上懒洋洋地伸着懒腰，晒着太阳。
例：After so long on the train, we couldn't wait to get out and stretch our legs.
在火车上坐了这么久，我们迫不及待地想下车走一走。stretch one's legs在这里表示to go for a walk, especially after sitting for a long time，久坐之后起来走动一下，散步，活动一下腿。
例：I always stretch my legs before and after running.
